The diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Argentine Republic began more than forty years ago, but these relations strengthened in the  recent years after the visit of the His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh  Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, to Buenos Aires in 2010 which was followed by a visit of the former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez to Doha in 2011, where the political leadership of the two countries decided to open embassies in Doha and Buenos Aires, this was achieved in 2013.
